Introductory post
T. J. Simers is a sports writer for the Los Angeles Times. He is also the most awful columnist I have ever read, by far. He is nasty, has no sports insight, no wit, and basically writes pure drivel. I am a Lakers fan who doesn't live in LA anymore, and rely on the Los Angeles Times for Lakers gossip, inside news etc. But Simers is so awful that I am literally scared to even go to the LA Times' Lakers web-site because that site always has a few sentences by Simers right up there in your face.
If you have read Simers and agree with me, leave a comment on this blog and sign the petition requesting that he be fired.
If you have read Simers and do not agree with me, also leave a comment on this blog and sign this other petition saying that he should be retained.
If you have not read Simers, you can check out his columns to form an opinion. Also, I will periodically post examples of this joker's writings for the LA Times.
Why the two petitions? Because maybe I am wrong and Simers actually appeals to a large contingent of LA sports Fans. I am pretty sure he will find an appropriate proof-reading or copy-editing job if he loses his LA Times job. Still, losing a job is hard on a fella, so we ought to be a little careful. If roughly equal numbers of people sign each petition, I will just drop the issue. If there is overwhelming support for firing Simers, we should share the results with LA Times.

TJ Simers is the sadest excuse for a sports columnist I have ever seen. The LA Times should be ashamed of having their name associated with such an unprofessional person! If you haven't read the story he penned on January 30 titled "Grieving for Barbaro makes no horse sense" you must. He writes about a sport he obviously knows little about. To compare one of the greatest champions our sport has seen in many years to a squirrel and a bump in the road (road kill) he ought to be hung. You don't have to be a horse racing fan to know a champion when you see one. A sports columnist certainly should. I don't know what it will take for the LA Times to boot this guy out. Obviously ESPN has bigger gonads than the Times becasue they did. What a joke he is to the sports world!

TJ Simers is a name caller who freely throws around racist comments. He should be shunned, not given a voice and column. Total trash. Journalists who write alongside him should be ashamed to.

Simers is like a kid that has to sit outside of the circle of cool kids just so he could HEAR what they were saying. Or... he's like a average-looking girl in a bar full of Laker fans who roots for the other team to receive the maximum amount of attention. He's pathetic. The fact that this guy even earns a nickel from writing is a total joke. FYI T.J (Total Jerk) -- we sports fans in Los Angeles HATE YOU. We don't buy the LA Times to read you -- in fact, we usually read AROUND you. You are a bitter untalented moron who should be working in a toy store.
